The 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia promise to one of the greatest sporting spectacles of all time and are definitely worth being part of. With that being said, tickets were in very high demand when they first went on sale and most events sold out extremely quickly. There are ways, however, that people can still find tickets for most events, depending on how much you are willing to pay.
It will be difficult to find great deals on Olympic tickets because they are in relatively high demand. With that being said, it might be possible to get some decent deals on events that took longer to sell out. For example, the Gold Medal hockey final is the most highly sought after event at the Games and because of this, the worst seats in the entire arena are currently being sold for over $1500. For the best seats in the house, you could end up paying over $10,000 per seat, although there are better deals currently available, and that number will increase even more if Team Canada is involved in the game.
Other highly sought after tickets include figure skating, speed skating, all skiing events, bobsled, the opening and closing ceremonies, and the medal rounds of all events. You will be forced to pay a premium rate for any of these tickets, so be prepared to pay hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for tickets to any of these events, especially the medal rounds. The unfortunate part about the ticket buying process was that some people purchased large quantities of tickets and are now selling them for well above market value and they are able to get away with it because of the high demand for these tickets.
For anyone who just wants to be a part of the Games, however, there are single event tickets available online for around $150. While this is still not considered cheap, it will be worth it because you will be a part of the Olympic Games. It might be wise to look for curling and hockey events that do not feature Canadian teams because these tickets are being sold for considerably less than other events. The reason for this is that there are more curling and hockey matches being played than in other sports and, therefore, there is more of a chance to attend these events.
