Save on Gas with this credit card

Posted by Brandi on 23rd September 2008

Discover Open Road

I normally would not recommend applying for a credit card but at this point in the economy credit card issuers are offering the best deals as far as getting cash back on purchases similar to using coupons.  Other than the grocery stores offering .10 off your $100 purchase in groceries for a gas discount, a cashback credit card that gives extra discounts on gas is the best offer out there. (as long as you are responsible about it ;)

  • 0% Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers*
  • 5% Cashback Bonus on your first $100 in gas and auto maintenance purchases each billing period
  • 5% to 20% Cashback Bonus at top online retailers through our exclusive online shopping site
  • Up to 1% Cashback Bonus on all other purchases automatically
  • Unlimited cash rewards that never expire
  • Turn your Cashback Bonus into bigger rewards when you redeem for gift cards or instant eCertificates from over 100 brand-name Partners

  • $0 Fraud Liability guarantee
  • No annual fee
Discover has their own online shopping site that is going to offer you a 20% cashback rebate!  A responsible person that pays makes their payments on time will not have a problem with credit cards.  If you are a money saver like me you will probably see the benefits of this card.
So exactly how much can you save on gas with this card?
You’ll get a 5% cash back bonus on the first $100 spent on gas and auto maintenance purchases a month. With savings of around $0.15 per gallon all year long at stations of your choosing, this gas credit card can save heavy commuters hundreds of dollars a year in gas.

If you already have a Discover Card with no balance:

You will be earning some FREE money from Discover for the gas you were already going to buy so that will help to offset the price of gas a little bit.

You can earn some free money too by logging in to your Discover card account and clicking on the cash back area, then signing up for the promotion. It does not cost anything and you just have to click one button to get signed up. If you do not already have a Discover card it might be worth the time to apply for one now to get those savings.

Apply for the Discover® Open Road Card
If you aren’t using a cash back credit card to purchase your gas, you are wasting hundreds of dollars a year.  This a BIG mistake. Let us explain…

Cashback credit cards are regular credit cards that give you a higher percentage cashback (up to 10%) when you make a purchase at a gas station.

• If you don’t pay with a cashback credit card, it’s like “tipping” the gas station.  Why pad their wallets when you can pad your own?

• Remember when gas stations used to charge a lower price for cash purchases versus credit card purchases?  How come they don’t do that anymore?  They simply raised the cash price to the credit card price. They pocket the difference.

Save on Gas at Kroger

Posted by Brandi on 19th July 2008

For every $100.00 you spend within a month and use your Kroger card, you’ll save .10 per gallon on gas. Sometimes it’s a really good deal, relatively speaking.

And keep in mind, they count the $100 BEFORE coupons are deducted, even better!! I use all my “freebie” coupons at Kroger so that it goes toward the $100 toward the gas discount!
