Never Throw Away Coupons!

Posted by Brandi on 16th January 2009

1. Never throw away coupons! This is probably the most important trick. If you cannot use a coupon ask around and find someone who can. Ask your family, friends or people on one of the groups. Throwing away coupons is like throwing away money. If you can’t use the coupons, expired or not you can always mail them to me.
2. Call and ask – Call your friends and family and tell them that when they are done with the coupons that come out of the Sunday paper to save them for you. There can be valuable coupons in there that you can use.
3. Expired Coupons – Many military families can use expired coupons. Send all of your expired coupons to someone that can use them.
4. When using Store Coupons – If you receive a coupon from a store example a $1.00 off of Huggies diapers to Target. Wait for the Huggies to go on sale, then use your Target coupon for $1.00 off and use a manufactured coupon along with the Target coupon. Whenever you use a store coupon you can also use a manufactured coupon as well.
5. Take advantage of double – When store have double coupons take advantage of this. During this week I only go to the store and buy the products that I can use the double coupons on. I only buy what I have coupons for that can be doubled. STOCK UP on these items. For example K-Mart is doubling coupons up to $2.00. They had head & Shoulders shampoo for $4.00 a bottle. I used a ton of $2.00 off coupons which doubled and gave me all the shampoo for free.
6. When using buy 1 get 1 free coupons – Try to use these when a store has buy 1 get 1 free sales. A while back CVS had Buy 1 get 1 free Covergirl coupons. I went to CVS and used the buy 1 get free coupons out of the paper. I got over $200 worth of Cover Girl products FREE.
7. Use coupons on Trial Sizes – If you do not normally use a product but you find a coupon that says $1.00 off ANY SIZE. Save that coupon. When you go to the store see if they have that product in the trial sizes. If so normally that $1.00 off coupon makes that product free. If you cannot use this product or will not use this product still get it. Donate it to a charity, if you have someone you know that uses that product share it with them, keep if for a stocking stuffer, make a gift basket out of trial sizes.

Don’t throw Away Your Expired Coupons!!

“OCP is a program that serves military families by assisting you to forward “manufacturer’s coupons” to overseas military bases.  These bundles of coupons are placed on tables, at the PX and Commissary, or handed out for use by military members and families on base.  This helps the family save valuable dollars and stretch their budget.  Your totals are listed at our site.

This is not a tax deductible charity.  This is a patriotic charity.  You are supporting the service person and their family by sending coupons that you do not use, and all of the extra ones that you can find, to them.  The service pay rates are no longer below the poverty level, but they are in no way great.  They appreciate your assistance.

Our charity is run by a few volunteers.  We spend a lot of our free time to support this worthy cause and care very much about our cause.  Please keep in mind that we also have personal lives that require our attention.  At times we may be absent to attend to personal affairs but we have not abandoned the program.  We will be back soon.  Please be patient.”
